Matthew 25:35-36 ESV
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.
“If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you. Take no interest from him or profit, but fear your God, that your brother may live beside you.
The bible is chalked full of verses regarding the poor in wealth. God obviously had an opinion on it. I don’t think anyone wakes up and hopes to be homeless. This was not their childhood dream. Regardless of how they got there, these poor people could use a ray of hope. It must be realized, however, that it is not my job to “fix” these individuals. It is my job to inject hope and love into their situation. Leaving judgement at the door is a must. God will do the rest.
You and I are not so different than the homeless. We are living is spiritual homelessness. This life is nothing but a temporary shelter as we await our forever home in heaven. We are, as well, one body of Christ-every age, every race, the rich and the poor. These are our brothers and sisters in Christ.
So let’s band together and help those in our communities who may be lacking in hope.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
This brings us to our big announcement……. #BlessingBlitzforHomelessness
This is a movement that we at liveHislove Ministry think is worth celebrating. We are hoping that you will help us spread the movement. Please click here to share our Facebook page and give #BlessingBlitzforHomelessness some traction. The more people that organize their own blitz, the more people will be enlightened with hope!
Here is how we have organized our first ever #BlessingBlitzforHomelessness !
1. Set us a sign-us genius (www.signupgenius.com). Here are a few snapshots of what our page looks like:
Here are a few pointers
*I added 2 different time sessions for people to come help assemble bags
*I contacted 2 different local homeless ministries, which we are going to donate to, and asked them for suggestions on what to fill the bags with
*Each family that comes to assemble will leave with 2 bags to keep in their car
*I am going to have my children write notes to be placed in each bag so that each person will know they are loved
*I also added a section for monetary donations for any items that are not donated
2. I created a Facebook event page to invite friends and families and to easily communicate information
3. Pass on #BlessblitzforHomelessness on social media and help us ignite this fire and help those in need!
-God Bless! Please comment with any questions. I’d love to help!
